Enterprise covers much of the southwest valley and is among the newest parts of the Las Vegas area, with large stretches built in the last two decades. Nearly all of that housing came with modern Low-E window packages and, very often, artificial turf in the yard.

That combination is why we get called out here more than anywhere else for a problem most people have never heard of until it happens to them.

Low-E windows and melted turf

Low-E glass is coated to reflect heat. On some windows, particularly slightly concave double-pane units, that reflection concentrates into a narrow band of focused sunlight on whatever sits opposite — most commonly a strip of artificial turf, which melts and mats down permanently.

A solar screen on the offending window breaks up the reflection before it can focus, which is why it is the standard fix. If you have a melted stripe in your turf and cannot work out what caused it, this is almost always the answer.

Areas of Enterprise we cover

Questions from Enterprise customers

We can stop it recurring. A solar screen on the window producing the reflection breaks up the focused light. We cannot restore turf that has already melted — that fibre is permanently damaged — so it is worth addressing before the damage spreads.

For a reflection problem, usually just the window causing it. We can work out which one that is from where the damage falls and the time of day it happens.
