Builder screens and newer construction

Builder-grade screens are built to a price, not to last. The mesh is light, the frames are thin, and in a few summers of direct sun the mesh starts to sag out of the frame. Replacing them with a heavier mesh and a proper frame is one of the cheaper upgrades you can make to a newer home.

Newer North Las Vegas homes also tend to have large, tall windows on the upper floor facing open desert, with nothing to shade them. Those are the windows where solar screens pay for themselves fastest.
